Health and Disability Services (Complaints) Amendment Act 2022

The Health and Disability Services (Complaints) Amendment Act 2022 (the Act) received Royal Assent on 22 October 2022 and came into force on 27 July 2023. The Act implements the National Code of Conduct for health care workers. This Code sets out the minimum standards for health care workers who are not registered under the National Registration Accreditation Scheme.

Examples of health care workers that will be covered by the Amendment Act include counsellors, dieticians, doulas, massage therapists, naturopaths, social workers, psychotherapists, certain types of cosmetic services, and other types of allied, alternative and community health services.

Under this Act, an affected person can apply to SAT for a review of a reviewable decision made by the Director of the Health and Disability Services Complaints Office.
