Residential Parks, Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds

SAT may make orders under the Residential Parks (Long-stay Tenants) Act 2006 in relation to disputes arising from long-stay agreements (for fixed or periodic tenancy of 3 months or longer, other than for a holiday) at a caravan park. This includes orders for the recovery of rent, the abandonment of premises, the compensation payable to a long-stay tenant or park operator, for vacant possession, and the termination of agreements.

SAT also reviews decisions made under the Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Act 1995 relating to granting or renewing (or refusal to grant or renew) or cancelling licences for a caravan park or camping ground, and prohibition notices and work specification notices.

SAT can also review decisions made by the local government in relation to whether an existing caravan park or camping ground has been substantially extended or redeveloped.

Under the Caravan Parks and Camping Grounds Regulations 1997, an applicant for a licence or renewal of a licence can apply for a review to SAT if the local government has not responded to the applicant within specified timeframes.
