Industrial Relations and Business

SAT has jurisdiction under the following pieces of legislation and has powers including:

 Business Names Act 1962

  • to review decisions by the Commissioner to cancel the registration of a business name

 Competition Policy Reform (Western Australia) Act 1996

  • to review the Commissioner’s determination relating to authorisation for acquisitions that would have the effect, or be likely to have the effect, of substantially lessening competition in a market.

 Credit Act 1984

  • to make determinations in relation to credit sale contracts, loan contracts, continuing credit contracts, regulated contracts, regulated mortgages and contract of guarantees

 Industrial Relations Act 1979

  • to determine whether to revoke orders by the Registrar to approve a representative of a person with a mental disability

 Limited Partnerships Act 2016

  • to review the decisions of the Commissioner relating to limited partnerships and incorporated limited partnerships

 State Superannuation Act 2000

  • to review decisions by the Government Employees Superannuation Board relating to a superannuation scheme
