The State Administrative Tribunal has a new Senior Member, with Debbie Taylor recently being appointed as the Senior Member in the Human Rights stream.
Ms Taylor comes to the position with an extensive background in law in England and Western Australia. She was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 1984 and practised at the Family Law Bar where she specialised in international family law and medico-legal matters. In 1994 she was appointed as a legal member of the Mental Health Review Tribunal for England and Wales.
Ms Taylor was admitted to practice in Western Australia in 1990. She is a former head of the Family Law Section at the Legal Aid Commission in Perth, where she worked from 1989 until 1991. Ms Taylor returned to Perth in 2008 as in-house counsel at Carr and Co. She has appeared before the Family Court of Western Australia and the Full Court of the Family Court of Australia in domestic and international family law cases.
