Overview of Procedures

After lodging an application with SAT, the applicant must give a copy of the application to all the parties who may be affected by the application, which is known as serving the application.

Once SAT accepts your application, all parties named in the application will be notified of the next step, which can be:

Any time before the delivery of a final decision, you can agree to resolve the matter between yourselves (this may not apply to some vocational and regulatory matters).

Subject to the rules for minor proceedings parties can be represented by a lawyer or another relevant person. SAT assists persons who represent themselves.
